Positive change hypnosis is just what it sounds like: making positive changes in your thoughts, attitudes, behaviors and emotions through the use of hypnosis. And, fortunately, this change can often be accomplished very quickly.
So, let’s start by talking about what hypnosis is and isn’t:
Hypnosis is simply a process facilitated by a trained hypnotist that induces a deep state of relaxation and focus. In this state, the subconscious mind is open to making positive changes in thoughts, attitudes, behaviors, and emotions through the use of suggestions, guided imagery, and creative visualization. Most often, hypnosis is used to help ordinary people with everyday problems. But, hypnosis can also be used to move beyond addressing problems and help people make continuing positive advances in their well-being, life satisfaction and authentic happiness. And the ability of hypnosis to have a profound effect on your sense of well-being is why many people are keenly interested in learning the process of self-hypnosis (which we are happy to teach you), aiding you in continuing to make positive changes in your life.
Thousands of scientific studies over many years have established the effectiveness of hypnosis and hypnotherapy. Further, hypnosis has been sanctioned by the American Medical Association since the 1950’s and is used in many settings, both medical and non-medical. But, despite its long history of success in helping people to make positive life changes, hypnosis and hypnotherapy are sometimes misunderstood by the general public. These misconceptions are typically the result of how hypnosis is often portrayed in films, television and stage shows – which usually portray the concept of “mind-control.” But that is not the reality of hypnosis and hypnotherapy – there is no such thing as “mind-control” in hypnotherapy since all hypnosis is essentially self-hypnosis. So, people under hypnosis are aware and can react or speak if they feel inclined to do so.
During the hypnotic state, you will typically feel very relaxed, yet aware. While in this state, you can receive suggestions to increase motivation, alter behavior patterns or unwanted habits, increase or create positive emotions, and diminish or eliminate negative emotions. These suggestions are based upon your specific needs. Guided imagery and creative visualization are also often used and can be powerful tools to effect positive life changes and create a greater sense of well-being.
Hypnosis has been used by many very successful people to decrease negative emotions, increase positive emotions, create wanted behaviors, eliminate unwanted behaviors, achieve life goals, create a stronger sense of well-being, be more successful in business and sports, and make many other desired positive life changes. Hypnosis for deep sleep is also a popular request from clients.
How we use hypnosis at the Flourish for Life Center for Positive Health:
We use hypnosis just as we’ve described above, however, we also incorporate the principles of positive psychology when and where needed to enhance your sense of well-being. The science behind positive psychology has been developing over many decades, but has seen great advances since the 1990’s. Positive psychology is concerned with the science of well-being and optimizing life experience. Further, the principles and practices of positive psychology can empower you to flourish in work, play and relationships – producing authentic happiness, feelings of well-being, and optimization of life experience. Positive psychology then is not so much concerned with fixing the negative as it is with building upon the positive.
